Oversell and reconciliation
Sell before you receive, then reconcile the traceability after.
In peak season, you sometimes take an order before physically holding the stock — the goods are expected from a supplier. OstraOS handles this common case in shellfish farming without breaking traceability. The mechanism is called oversell with reconciliation.
The three-step flow
- The order is created with the "force" option, even when physical stock is short. A pending temporary lot is created to trace the sale.
- Goods arrive from the supplier: you record the reception and a new physical lot is logged.
- A manager allocates the received lot to the sold lot, closing the reconciliation. Traceability is complete, end to end.
Until the allocation happens, the sold lot is visible in a dedicated view with a "to reconcile" badge. You know exactly which sales are waiting, and how long they have been waiting.
Remember
Oversell is not a workaround: it is an official OstraOS mechanism designed to preserve traceability while respecting the commercial dynamics of the trade.
